The auction service is operated by Northern Car Imports, a trading name of Northern Uk Energy Sales Ltd, Lomeshaye Business Centre, Turner Road, Nelson, BB9 7DR (“we”, “us”). We provide an online platform where verified sellers offer vehicles for sale by auction to registered bidders. Unless a listing states that Northern Car Imports is the seller, we are not a party to the contract of sale, which is between the buyer and the seller named on the listing.
You must be 18 or over and give accurate details. Sellers must verify their identity and address, and business sellers must provide evidence of their business. We may require bidders to verify their identity before bidding. We may refuse, suspend or close any account, and remove any listing, where we suspect fraud, misuse or a breach of these terms. We may share information with the police, DVLA, finance houses or insurers where we suspect a vehicle is stolen or a crime has been committed.
No buyer’s fee — you pay the winning bid only. Where a trade seller lists a vehicle as “plus VAT”, VAT at the prevailing rate is added to the winning bid, and this is shown on the listing. Payment is made by the buyer directly to the seller unless we state otherwise. Buyers should only pay to an account in the name of the verified seller.
The buyer and seller must contact each other within 2 working days and complete the sale within 7 days unless they agree otherwise. Ownership and risk pass to the buyer on handover and full payment. The seller must give the buyer the V5C (or complete the online change of keeper) and all keys and documents described in the listing.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. If you buy from a trade seller as a consumer you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and, as our auctions are held online only, usually a 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Private sales carry fewer rights; the vehicle must still be as described and the seller must have the right to sell it.
We take reasonable steps to verify sellers and vehicles but cannot guarantee the condition of any vehicle or the accuracy of every statement made by a seller. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from the contract between buyer and seller. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
We process identity documents and vehicle documents to prevent fraud and to verify sellers and vehicles. We keep them securely, only make them available to authorised staff, and delete them when they're no longer needed for these purposes or for legal record-keeping.
Contact us first if something goes wrong. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
